Ovation Data Services to acquire DPTS

 HOUSTON, Texas & LONDON, England – 6 October 2002 - Ovation Data Services, Inc. (Ovation) announced today that it has signed a letter of intent to purchase a majority interest in DPTS Limited (DPTS) of Orpington, Kent. Ovation Data Services is a leading provider of data transcription services and digital asset management & storage systems. DPTS provides similar services throughout Europe and other regions of the world. 

“The acquisition strengthens our European presence in the exploration and production industry and will enable us to expand into new markets,” said Gary Servos, President and CEO of Ovation.  “High quality customer service has always been our priority -- with DPTS, we strengthen our ability to provide continued high quality services utilizing the latest state-of-the-art technologies as well as maintaining and supporting the plethora of older technologies.”

Pending final approvals, the transaction is scheduled for completion by the 1st of December. Ovation’s UK tape operations will be moved to the DPTS Orpington service center, which will become the headquarters for EAME and Asian operations. For the immediate future, the company will continue to operate as DPTS Limited with Jepson as Managing Director. Ovation’s Houston headquarters will be responsible for operations geographically related to the Americas (North, Central and South).

Ovation’s London based Data Storage Group will remain separate from the transaction and continue to operate from offices in Ealing, London.
