HOUSTON, TX, October 5, 2004 – Ovation Data
Services, Inc. (Ovation) today announced that it has been awarded a three-year,
world-wide contract by Compagnie Générale de Géophysique (CGG) to be its
preferred provider of selected tape transcription and tape asset management
services.
The transcription and asset management services
that Ovation (and its affiliates, including DPTS Limited) will provide for CGG
include, but are not limited to: tape transcription services and systems, tape
asset and management services, tape recovery services, scanning and digitizing
software, and programming services for digital media applications. “We are proud
that CGG has chosen us as their preferred provider for these services, and
pleased that CGG will now be able to offer our (Ovation’s) services directly to
their customers,” said Gregory Servos, President and COO of Ovation.
“High-quality customer service has always been our priority, and we are
confident that as CGG’s chosen preferred provider we will be able to continue to
meet and exceed their expectations in providing these services.”
With the three-year, renewable contract, Ovation
and its affiliates will provide these selected services to over 32 CGG branches
and subsidiaries worldwide.

– Ovation
Data Services, Inc. was recently honored by the Houston Business Journal for
being one of the top small businesses in Houston. The award was based on how
each company is set apart not only in growth and industry leadership but also in
it's service to the community. The awards ceremony took place at the Hilton
Americas Hotel on Friday, May 21, 2004. The honored 100 businesses will appear
in the May 24th issue of the Houston Business Journal.
Ovation ranked 54th
in the top 100 of Houston area business for 2003.
Ovation also placed 9th
in Percentage of Growth from 2002-2003.
Ranked by 2003 gross revenue, the companies on this list
meet criteria established by the Houston Small Business 100 Advisory Committee.
All are headquartered within the eight-county Houston metropolitan area, have a
maximum of 500 employees and a maximum of $50 million in revenue and have been
doing business for a minimum of five years.

– Ensuing last week’s announcement about Ovation Data Services, Inc.’s (Ovation)
purchase of Sony’s new PetaSite® SAIT-based mass storage tape library, the Data
Storage Division (DSD) of Ovation today announced it has contracted with Sony to
be their first Master Systems Integrator for Sony-branded SAIT products. Under
this agreement, Ovation will be the first master VAR/SI for new-generation
Sony-branded SAIT tapes, drives, and libraries to value-added-resellers (VARs)
and systems integrators in the USA.

have been contracted to be Sony’s first Master Systems Integrator to distribute
new-generation Sony-branded SAIT technology. Sony-branded SAIT products
incorporate leading-edge technology, which will allow VARs and others to
maximize that value in integrated solutions and give customers a lower TCO. We

– The Data Storage Division, of Ovation Data Services, Inc. (Ovation),
today announced it is the first to purchase the new Sony PetaSite® CSM-200B mass
storage tape library, based on SAIT technology. The new PetaSite CSM-200B
library has up to 108 terabytes (TB) native capacity in a single 19-inch
cabinet, with a scalable total native capacity up to 1.2 petabytes (PB).
With the new PetaSite SAIT
library, Data Storage Division of Ovation (Ovation DSD) customers can get
more than double the storage capacity currently provided by existing libraries
on the market, and tremendous flexibility to meet their future storage demand
needs.

purchase of a majority interest in DPTS Limited (DPTS) of Orpington,
Kent. Ovation Data Services is a leading provider of data transcription

similar services throughout Europe and other regions of the world.
